Ingrained patterns: what self-awareness counselling is about

We all have ingrained patterns of behaviour and thinking. They are what make us successful, and some of them are also how we create our problems and sticking points in relationships and elsewhere.

Some people want to improve their relationship with their partner or their family relationships, or are hoping to find a partner. There are also people who would like to find their purpose in life. Others would like to lose weight, or simply to live more healthily. Others still are looking for balance in their lives, or would simply like to be happy and successful.

Getting stuck

Sooner or later, however, most of us get stuck in some area of our lives. We would like to move on, but we do not know how.

We see the symptom, but we do not see the cause of getting stuck.

Not visible from the inside

Our problems are hard to solve on our own, because we ourselves are part of the problem behind the symptom: it is within us, it is part of our personality. It cannot be seen from the inside, and it cannot be solved by approaching it from there.

What exists only in our heads

At the same time, certain situations and certain people who play a part in our lives affect us emotionally, and often at the level of our desires and needs as well. This can mean that we notice only the part of reality that is connected to these feelings and desires.

As a result, we are capable of believing in a reality that exists only in our heads, and when we make decisions or behave according to it, we inevitably end up in a dead end.

From the outside, without personal involvement

“Why am I able to help as a professional? Because I see the problems from the outside, without personal involvement, and so, building on the reality that has been recognised, I am able to find the best solutions for my client together with them.

In my work I use the methods and approaches of modern applied psychology (cognitive behavioural therapy, positive psychology, MBSR, MBCT).”
